This is a coffin container which is basically the combination of thew mirror container and the grave container in the earlier post. This coffin container function as a stand for the mannequin, a storage box for the mannequin, and also a mirror for the mannequin.
However, i am stuck in my house due to the flood problem and i am unable to go out to buy stuff for making a prototype so i am sorry but i will try to find something with similiar function and used it as prototype while the flood is still high.
I still do not understand why you would make a tomb as your container...
ReplyDeleteIt really does not make sense
Go back to the work you did before, and to what we said during the review...
And post again soon!
Best wishes
i make it as a tomb because the last place we rest or will he kept is in a tomb so it seem to me like a place to keep human being similarly the mannequin also need to be kept in a tomb for decoration and also function for which it fits the mannequin exactly and are easy for transportation
ReplyDeletein addition, i also design the container as a coffin so that it will be easily recognize that the container is for a object that take shape as a human form to be able to fit inside the container and so that object is basically a mannequin as the brief have mention for us to design a container that will be recognize as for our object
ReplyDeleteOk from now on i will be much more demanding of you...
ReplyDelete"i make it as a tomb because the last place we rest or will he kept is in a tomb so it seem to me like a place to keep human being similarly the mannequin also need to be kept in a tomb for decoration and also function for which it fits the mannequin exactly and are easy for transportation"
This does not make any sense and is filled with misconceptions.
First of all, not all human beings will end up in a coffin roughly following the shape of the body... look at buddhist religion's death ritual to start with something you should be aware of.
2nd, what has decoration to do with any of this?
Finally, it does not fit the mannequin exactly at all! As coffins do not fit human bodies because they are standardized...
And it is certainly not easy for transportation (why would you need to transport it anyway?)
But then i read your following comment, and i understand this confusion mainly come from the brief...
But you have to be better than the brief!
Define what is this containment you are talking about, and please go beyond the obvious...
You had a really interesting start of research on the last review, why don't you go back and start with a ground you created yourself, instead of starting from scratch or a badly interpreted brief..?
This proposal now seems very forced...
The brief is quite undetermined and leaves the possible interpretations to be fully explored by you.
I advise you to stop and think.
sorry aj camil but there are a few number of research topic i have done in the passed process during prj 2.1 so i am just wondering if u like the idea of mirror itself, or the inside out one? thank you
ReplyDeletei am feeling quite blank and dont know which or what to focus on please give me some lead for me to focus and think on thank you
ReplyDeleteEither one really - develop the one you like the most
ReplyDeleteThé one you think how's most potential
You worked more on the idea of a double, a mirror
And if I remember well we saw during the review how the inside out idea was related to this double...
Have you looked at the reference I have you?
The body without organs
yeah, i have look at it, it was an egg if i wasnt mistaken
ReplyDeleteWell... yes there is an image of an egg (the other end of life (from the tomb)..!) on the english wikipedia page, but here the website really deserves its name weakipedia...!
ReplyDeleteI was simply pointing at this text, hoping it would make you question the idea of a human body, not that it will give you answers.. Philosophers rarely give answers, they give questions!
Anyway, let's go back to what you have done for the object study.
First of all you are not looking at the object itself, but at the relation it has with a double (have you redone the multiview drawings by the way?).
So you were bringing this idea of a double, and exploring it both physically and psychologically which was very interesting.
There is no ready-made answer or way to proceed now from that basis. You simply have to start with some materials, aiming at the creation of this double, this image of the self and the relation between the two.
So yes, working with mirrors or other reflective surfaces (water?) seems appropriate, with light and shadow could be interesting as well, with threads, with screens..
But you have to make up a scenario, a sort of story, following on what you started earlier.
Another way you could go is to continue the inside out operation you started (showing how this mannequin is actually the inversion of the human body).
For now, i see those two ways as separate, but maybe you could find a way to bridge them together.
I insist again, containment does not need to be physical. As even Aj Connelly showed during his presentation.
Keep me posted!
