Dears

I have made a summary of what each of you should remember from yesterday :

- Mew
Great work... but you have presentation skills to develop!! - both in your oral performance and in the way you (do not) explain your work and process graphically
the notion of an instrument - timing - performance
Look at the work of John Cage and La Monte Young
Also David Byrne - Playing the building

Very interesting exploration - to be continued - as we said , you should move from purely representation to experience, experiments, mechanics, movements, machines, physical challenges, etc...
Have a look at Alfred Jarry’s “How to Construct a Time Machine”: A Web Guide
Explore the website and the different projects emerging from this original text by french genius writer Alfred Jarry.

You have good ideas and enthusiasm it seems but... a methodology and rigour problem.
And your ideas highly suffer from it since they never get to be developed...
What you miss is a kind of persistence, of stubbornness - thus you will have to continue working on your tree of life diagram - go back to the diagram lecture i sent earlier - study 2 or 3 examples of complex (complex is different from complicated - it would be good for you to research what complex means) diagrams which attract you and follow a logic to improve yours - you need more data from the story - accurate, specific data and a process of articulating them.
As we said during the review, your 3d diagram could have been the plan and preparation of a series of operations on a living tree.

Interesting work but be aware not to pretend doing something. Do it for real and create the appropriate conditions for it. You are allowed and encouraged to take more and more risks. And develop your personal exigency in your work.
Look at this artist's work : Carsten Holler

- Jane
Surprising work!...What we were discussing while you did not seem to understand was the awareness you had/had not over your own work : the way it looks, what it refers to, the imagination it triggers etc.
Basically it looked like an ugly funfair playground for english kids - which, if you are conscious of it and master this aesthetic, is a very interesting position to take and impose onto your audience....
It does not matter if you were not fully predicting this reaction and result, what matters is that you are able to reflect upon it now - write it down in your notebook for example.
As we said, you should rework on your "sections", and include the thinking process into them - scale of the body, adult/child, section through the imagination, process of exaggeration in a child's mind, etc. All with your piece as the setting.
An artist working on childhood, Mike Kelley (he just died...)
and one working on disturbing human scales... Ron Mueck.

You have the potential of a beautiful piece here. What was lacking is the information reference on the base plane, plus a way to interpret, to read this time/geo/eventscape, timo/topography
You should also talk with Boss and try together to understand what you are working on.... it is a very fascinating field you both stepped into!

- Jaa
Sorry but i could not let this pass unnoticed. It would be a lack of honesty and respect towards your firend's work... You might not have been aware of what you were doing, but at least let's hope you won't do this any more... Better now than later believe me.
So... go back to your own work, fight with it, take your responsibilities, and get to the level of your ambition and desire to succeed.

- Palm
No more nice work!... You are very talented but you now have to challenge yourself and wander out of the safe zone. That's the only way you will learn.
Don't be afraid of the ugly, the provocative, the unexpected, unforeseen,.... experiment!
Look for example at the architects Xefirotarch - you'll see how the ultra organic. to the point of disgust can be a matter to develop.
The process of crafting this pieces was the way to develop your idea - the wire structure is not to be hidden - it is as meaningful as the rest, go back to this experiment pieces, remember the discussion we had when you brought the sea plant...

- Pinky
What happened?? Were you scared of something?... You had a very interesting intuition, super challenging yes and very difficult to transform but YOU SHOULD NEVER GIVE UP.
Well, i just hope you know it now.
And the wire structure could be the way to develop it - i have absolutely nothing against wire meshes (look what it means, especially in 3D modelling terms).
So go back to this cute game, understand its rules, extract them in a flowchart or other diagram of your choice (linked to yours would be best) and then write down the architecture of your game....

- Boon
Here also.... what happened?? It looks like you did not even really try. Come on! you have to fight with these material things that resist us. We all have to.
At some point then we can do magic with them - look at the work of Olafur Eliasson - he made several rainbow projects... and many more with light phenomenons.
And try again, and again, document it - make something out of it. Better an honest and rigorous and persistent failure, than a terrible plan B.

See you all tomorrow for a strange day i presume
