I particularly like the idea of the memory container (it reminds me of the film Memento, where the main character is amnesiac and tatoos notes on his own body to be able to know what he has to do - to have a sort of continuity in his life... maybe you should watch it, it is very easy to find)


But this memory needs to be organized, 
it could form stories, as in the first example,


it could even be coded,
as in your second proposal
...


In any case, you need to start researching about memory, the way it functions, the ways and devices people (from the invention of language) have imagined...
Research on the art of memory. A practice developed during the middle ages.

Your container could expand both in ambition and in size...


The code is a very interesting idea. It could be applied as well within the development of your memory container.
