Some rough ideas for the containers
First is a clear container that can be used as pot. Since babies symbolize life, containing something living like plants would fit to the idea. Also it would have many connectable parts like limbs that can be added or remove. More limbs than the original 4 can be added. Some connections to the limbs (such as the head) can be closed so it controls and contains the growth of the plant. The same idea can be used as a fish bowl too.. ?
The second idea spawned from a joke. Since the baby doll was freaky, it could be a container of nightmares. The container is basically the doll with modifications to enhance the creepy qualities. Like adding holes so when you twist it something squirts out or it opens in a weird way. This was more of a passing idea.
The third idea concentrates more on the material and connection. It can twist and contort and fit inside a larger container for optimization. Designed to contain items such as food. Though I'm not sure on how to make it.
I'm sorry I did not get to post earlier. I was busy moving things to higher grounds.
Now it is time maybe to analyze your ideas... the first 2 ones seem to consider the doll as a (the) container, which is super interesting.
ReplyDeleteI believe the 3rd idea can relate to the first approaches that you have, it seems that molding and all aspects (folding, twisting etc.) which come with the fabrication process will be the way you will develop your work.
I recommend that you make best use of the skills learned during T&S and push them much further!
During the review, we talked about monstrification as a fabrication process - or rather how the fabrication is already a sort of monstrification (but not conscious yet of being s0) - now how can this fabrication serve monstrification?
What is monstrification? What is a monster? this would be an interesting research...
I think there is the connection between idea 2 and 3. But now, the idea (1) of it containing things (and especially living things!) suggests even more fantastic proposals!
Do not be afraid of going completely mad with this. You should even loose control of any expectation - run ideas and processes and see what comes out of them!
